Boundary Restructure Study

In 2006, the City conducted a Boundary Restructure Study that explored the possibility of expanding its boundaries. The City worked with the BC Government’s Local Government Restructure Program to look at the potential advantages and disadvantages of including portions of the surrounding electoral areas within the City boundaries.

The City currently provides water and fire protection services to the majority of the study area.

A public committee was established and was made up of 5 Electoral Area Citizens, 3 Citizens from within the City, 1 representative from Cowichan Tribes and 1 Citizen from North Cowichan.
